The gite faces south and is set over two levels. It sleeps up to ten in four bedrooms with three bathrooms two of which are en-suite.
It is located in one of the stone outbuildings which would have been a farmhouse and has lovely views over the surrounding countryside. The adjacent field alternates between wheat and sunflowers. It was completely renovated in June 2012. Everything is new with full insulation (important in the hot summers), new bathrooms and kitchens from the UK and laminate flooring – slate laminate in the kitchen and bathrooms, and oak everywhere else.
The gite is wired for internet and multi-media, and there is a hard drive with 250 plus films and some 15,000 songs which are streamed to both of the ultra-thin TVs. In the upstairs Rumpus Room there is the second TV which is a great hit with the kids. Internet is also available throughout wirelessly. If you bring your own PCs and DVDs then these can be plugged in and played as well.
The lovely south facing views can be seen from all the bedrooms and reception rooms with sunflowers, vines, wheat and corn. There is also an abundance of wildlife, rabbits, hare and deer can regularly be seen particularly in the early morning.
The gite has a private terrace and large gently sloping grassed area of half an acre for ball games etc. There is of course a gas BBQ area and plenty of parking.
The main entrance (there are three) enters into the country kitchen which has the look and feel of a French country kitchen but with everything brand new and the latest technology is in evidence everywhere. The dining table, made by Lallows Boatyard of Cowes is solid American oak and seats ten comfortably. Lighting is LED spotlights with a dimming and colour changing system for the plinth lights. Here is a large TV with DVD player and media renderer. It has a UK Freeview box and access to the films and music on the hard drive. There is a large fridge freezer, a range cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle etc.
The crockery is all Denbyware, the pans are Stellar, the cutlery is Viners and everything is as you would expect of a property of this standard.
There is a log burner there for chilly evenings and the whole gite is centrally heated in the winter.
Through from the kitchen is a lounge with two large sofas and a coffee table, there is also a fireplace. Lighting is lovely warm dimmable LED architectural lighting.
Further on from the lounge is the downstairs en-suite bedroom. This has its own patio doors which open onto the terrace. The beds here can either be singles or zipped together to make a six foot double. There is an en-suite shower room with hand basin and toilet. This downstairs bedroom with full amenities, including access to the garden, would give independence to anyone with limited mobility.
All the bed linen is pure Egyptian cotton with hypo-allergenic pillows and duvets. We have a travel cot as well, do let us know if you need it.
The stairs lead up from the lounge to the three upstairs bedrooms.
The master en-suite has a king sized bed and large en-suite shower room with hand basin and toilet.
The middle bedroom has a double bed and we have retained the exposed chimney breast and beams. Next to it is the Rumpus Room, also with a large exposed beam, primarily designed for children as it has the big TV and DVD player. Here there are four single beds, two of which can be zipped together if required.
The middle bedroom and Rumpus Room share the family bathroom which has a P shaped bath with shower over and of course a hand basin and toilet.
